Myers-Briggs (MBTI) - The Business & Industry Training Center at Calhoun Community College can assist you with professional/personal development through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).  Let our certified practitioner design an assessment workshop customized to meet your needs.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an instrument designed to evaluate people and provide descriptive profiles of their personality types.  Based on the theories of psychologist Carl Jung, it is widely used in the fields of business, education, and psychology.

The MBTI assessment begins with participants responding to questions that provide clues about their basic outlook or personal preferences.  The responses are scored within four attributes.  The MBTI system organizes the four sets of attributes into a matrix of 16 different personality types.  For each personality type, the MBTI system includes a profile which describes the characteristics common to people who fit into that category.

MBTI is a popular evaluative tool.  Many colleges and universities use it in career counseling to help guide students into appropriate fields for their personality types.  In the business world, companies use it to make hiring decisions, identify leadership potential among employees, design training for specific employee needs, facilitate team building, and help resolve conflicts between employees.  By giving people an increased understanding of their behavior and preferences, MBTI is said to help them increase their productivity, build relationships, and make life choices.

The Birkman Method® (TBM)  is a valid, reliable, scientific assessment of personality, social perceptions, motivation, and occupational interests. Colleges, universities, and businesses use TBM to support personal coaching, leadership development, team building, career, conflict management and hiring activities.

TBM uniquely combines and measures behavioral traits, underlying motivators, and occupational interests to describe personal behavior (both effective and ineffective behavior) and the underlying needs and interests that drive behavior and occupational choice. This comprehensive measurement and reporting lets you go beyond basic understanding of self to give you the ability to effectively manage yourself, your relationships, and your career. TBM helps you make informed choices in your life and in your career that lead to your success and well being, while also helping you understand and manage potential stress when you are in unfamiliar or uncomfortable situations.
