Supported Web Browsers

If you have a pop up blocker program, turn it off.  It may interfere with tools in WebCT.
(Many Toolbar add on programs have pop up blockers built in such as AOL, Yahoo, Google, etc.)

For the most up-to-date information about supported browsers, go to the WebCT Browser tune-up page at www.webct.com/tuneup.

If you are using Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP operating system, the following browsers are supported:

Note: If Using Windows XP Service Pack 2 you will need to disable the pop up blocker when using WebCT.

Note: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 is not supported.

If you are using Linux operating system:

WebCT doesn't officially support Linux as a client operating system, but does support Netscape Navigator.  Mozilla 1.x and Netscape 7.x aren't officially supported, but they seem to work better than Netscape 4.76 according to several users. WebCT is unaware of any significant problems with using either with WebCT.

Java support is more difficult to configure in many cases. Make sure you're using Sun's newest Java Plug-in. Java is only used for Chat, Whiteboard, and for the Equation Editor.

Browsers like Konqueror, Opera, Galeon, Phoenix, etc. tend not to work correctly with all tools in WebCT.

If you are using the Mac OS 9 operating system software, the following browsers are supported:

If you are using the Mac OS X v10.1.x operating system software, the following browsers are supported:

If you are using the Mac OS X v10.2.x operating system software, the following browsers are supported:

Note:  For all browsers, enable JavaScript™. To use all features in Content Module, client browsers must allow cookies. For all users, set cached pages to update automatically (Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Netscape Navigator 6.2.x) or when the page is out of date (Netscape Navigator 7.0).
