Parents Checklist
Elementary School
Discuss different careers with your child.
Read to your child from books that feature characters in various professions.
Work with your school and local WD partnership to set up career-related activities.

Middle School
Work with local WD partnerships to create opportunities for industry tours.
Develop a good relationship with your child's guidance counselor.
Volunteer as a guest speaker or invite other professionals you know to visit classrooms.
Introduce your child to friends and neighbors with different professions.

High School
Discuss career interests with your child and develop opportunities for your child to explore and experience those careers.
Encourage your child to get involved in a mentoring internship, and co-op activities at school.
Help your child develop a comprehensive resume or portfolio.
Be sure your child takes a Student Interest Survey; review the results with your child and school counselor.
