Shakespeare with cowboy music, western costumes,
and Mexican constables? The centennial of the Spanish-American War and similarities
between that conflict and the themes of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING made Texas in 1898, an
ideal setting for this popular Shakespearean comedy. Bubba's set consisted of miniature Southwestern haciendas with orange tiled roofs, stylized cacti, and a huge framed landscape painting on each end. MUCH ADO ran for eighteen shows over three weeks.
