Service Learning Agency Application
Welcome to the service learning initiative for Calhoun Community College. This program is designed to offer students the opportunity to improve academic learning and develop skills through participation in structured service projects that meet community needs. Thank you for your participation in this initiative!
Students are introduced to the service-learning concept in classes they attend. Several faculty members have included a service learning track as an option for students to choose in their course requirements listed in the syllabus.
General Expectations:
Agency will complete an online application (continue below). Be sure your agency is not already on the list of
currently participating agencies
.
Agency will offer students opportunities to render meaningful community service.
Agency will provide an opportunity for students to participate in work that is in some way directed toward their specific course of study, career plans, or special interests.
Agency will provide orientation and supervision for students as it is related to their specific agency responsibilities and duties.
Agency will inform the Calhoun Service Learning Coordinator whenever there is a concern or problem related to students that have been assigned to their agency.
Agency will keep track of the number of hours the student has participated (a timesheet is provided for all students). Please note that some Calhoun instructors require more than ten (10) hours as their service learning requirement.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Service Learning Coordinator at any time.
