    Signing up for College
    A Guide for Military Students

Click here to go directly to information regarding programs available through Calhoun in conjunction with the U.S. Army Ordnance Missile and Electronic Maintenance School (OMEMS).

    How to begin...

  1. The first step to entering college is the application. You may pull down a copy of Calhoun's application by clicking here.

  2. The next step is to have transcripts sent to Calhoun from ALL previous colleges. You may pull down a copy of the request form for each college you have ever attended by clicking here. A high school transcript or copy of your GED may be used if you have not attended any college. Click here for the transcript request form.

  3. Next we will need your documentation of your military career for evaluation toward college credit. If you entered the Army on or after 1 October 1981 you can have an AARTS transcript sent to Calhoun. Click here for the AARTS request form for active duty and click here for the AARTS request for inactive soldiers. The website for AARTS is http://aarts.army.mil If your military career started before 1 October 1981 and are currently active duty we will need a copy of DD Form 295. If you have left the military you may send a copy of your DD Form 214 and any completion certificates not included in the 214.

  4. We need to know exactly what degree(s) you want to be evaluated toward. You may pull down our evaluation request form by clicking here. Please note that we cannot complete an evaluation until all transcripts and military documentation have been received.

  5. To establish your residence with Calhoun you may take a course with us on your next rotation to Redstone Arsenal or sign up for a class through the internet. You may learn more about distance learning by clicking here.

  6. The above steps have put everything in place for you to select your classes.  If you are interested in web-based courses, click here to see a checklist on selecting those courses.
