Fall Community Service Projects
To join the Calhoun Lady Warhawks softball program, players are required to “compete with heart” on the field and in the classroom. This year’s group is no different. They have extended their hearts through active involvement in the community.
For the third consecutive year, the Lady Warhawks have volunteered at the Fall Festival at West Decatur Elementary School, Calhoun’s partner in education. The team painted children’s faces, conducted games, and supervised the inflatables. The team enjoyed their experience to the extent it was difficult to determine if the players or the children had the most fun.
The Crisis Services of North Alabama was the recipient of the Lady Warhawks generosity in the United Way’s “Caring Heart” program. Team members collected crayons, coloring books, and school supplies for children in the area who have been uprooted from their homes.
On Friday, October 19, the Calhoun softball team joined forces with the Madison County Habitat for Humanity organization. The 15 laborers painted trim, installed doors and helped with cabinets for the grateful homeowner.
Heart wins games but it also makes for a brighter day for the Lady Warhawks and the community!!
