Assistant Coaches

 

Robert Slack

Robert Slack

Coach Robert Slack enters his second season as assistant softball coach at Calhoun.  He is a local hitting and pitching instructor who coached at Decatur High School for ten years. 

Coach Slack graduated from Falkville High School and has a B.S. degree from Athens State.  Currently, he teaches Building Science at Decatur High.  He also coached five years of youth travel ball in Morgan County, and has umpired youth and high school softball games for seven years.  He resides in Hartselle, Alabama, where he continues to work in the construction industry.

Coach Slack assists in practice with hitting and pitching instruction for the Lady Warhawks.  He is involved in the Calhoun softball camps and recruiting.


Gil Loeser

Gil Loeser

Gil Loeser is in his second season with the Lady Warhawks.  He is a former assistant softball coach at St. Petersburg College and Hillsborough Community College in Central Florida. 

Coach Loeser holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston.  He is currently employed as a Senior Software Engineer for The Boeing Company in Huntsville. 

Gil’s family is very involved in softball.  His wife, Linda, has been the lead statistician for her softball family for many years.  Their daughter, Dawn, played scholarship softball for St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida and Milligan College in Tennessee.  She is now a nurse in Johnson City, Tennessee.  Gil and Linda’s son, Ray, attended Mississippi State University on a softball manager scholarship.  He is now a full-time assistant softball coach at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas.

The teams Coach Loeser  worked with compiled a 483-265 record including: a National  Jean Williams Award winner (best female athlete in JUCO who has shown exceptional leadership, scholarship, and athletic success), 4 JUCO All-American players, 19 JUCO Academic All-Americans, 26 All-Region players, 59 All-Conference players, and he helped move 58 players to four-year schools on scholarship, including a record 11 in 2001.

Coach Loeser works with the Lady Warhawks in all phases of the game.

Gil and Linda reside in Madison, Alabama and are the proud grandparents of future softball prodigy, Alyvia.
