Fast Track Academy

What is FastTrack?

FastTrack Academy is a six-week summer program combining developmental education and Freshmen Seminar for first-year students.

Who qualifies for FastTrack?

Any high school graduate who plans to attend Calhoun Community College in the fall and places in remedial level English, math, or reading (see chart below) who is willing to commit to the entire six-week program.

  • Reading  -- ACT score below 20/or equivalent placement score*
  • Math  -- ACT score below 20/or equivalent placement score*
  • English -- ACT score below 18/or equivalent placement score*

What are the details?

Registration will begin April 3 and will run through June 1, as space allows. 

The Summer 2017 academy will be Monday-Thursday, June 12-July 21.  In addition, attendees must register to complete a pre-test on June 1, 5 or 6. Students are only required to attend the pre-test on the scheduled date.  

There will be a morning and evening session available at both the Huntsville and Decatur campuses.  Session times are below:

  • Morning: 8:30-12:00
  • Evening: 6:00-9:30

Attendance is required for successful completion of the Fast Track Academy.

What is the cost?

There is no charge to attend the summer FastTrack Academy!  This is a wonderful opportunity to save on tuition and fees for remedial coursework and Freshmen Seminar (ORI 110), which is required for first-time students.

The Facts...

Last year, we started with 357 students. Of those, a staggering 307 STUDENTS completed the academy for an 86% completion rate! Last year’s Fast Track Academy saved students an average of 3.08 credit hours and $455.57 per student!
