Advising Tips for Students Seeking 2-Year Degrees

  • Follow curriculum for degree in Calhoun catalog
  • Seek advice from faculty in your major area
  • Apply for graduation a semester in advance

Remember: 
  • Prerequisites for individual courses are found in catalog course descriptions
  • Associate in Science (AS) degrees may lead to transfer to a 4-year school
  • Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees generally lead to mastery of specific skills for the workforce
  • You may choose to follow requirements of the catalog you started under or the one under which you graduate
  • You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to graduate

Seeking 4-Year Degrees 

  • Access STARS guide for your major
  • Additionally, confirm degree requirements with 4-year school
  • Apply to 4-year school 6-12 months in advance

Remember:
  • Only 64 semester hrs. of two-year college credit will apply toward 4-year degree
  • It is not necessary to complete a 2-year degree to be eligible to transfer
  • If a 2-year degree is desired, the A.S. degree is preferable to the A.A.S.
  • Acceptance of D's is decided by the 4-year school
  • You must have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 to transfer
