Shakespeare set
his A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM in Athens, Greece; we just brought it a bit
closer to home -- to Athens, Alabama! Blue-haired fairies and
bluegrass music, country dancing and professional wrestling all combined
to produce a fun-filled, high-energy version of Shakespeare's comedy of
love madness.
To present Athens, Bubba and the crew built a replica of the Limestone County Court House; on the other side, a full moon shone down on a forest of descending beds enveloped by trees and the evening sky, all washed in shades of blue. A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM ran for twenty-eight performances between February 22 and March 18, including twelve performances for fourteen different area schools.
