In honor of the 400th
anniversary of the opening of the Globe Theatre in London, Bubba built a Black Box version
of Shakespeare's stage modeled on the original in design, function, and style.
The first play presented in this new theatre was one of Shakespeare's most controversial: THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, the story of Shylock and the pound of flesh. Though a comedy, MERCHANT often plays more like a tragedy, a disturbing tale of love, loyalty, and prejudice. MERCHANT ran for 23 shows over a four-week run.
