Kermit Carter
|
As the Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Kermit Carter is responsible for overseeing all of the departments within the Student Affairs Division. His office is located in room 205 of the Chasteen Student Center. With over 30 years of experience in student services administration, he subscribes to the philosophy that students should be thrilled when receiving student services. Dr. Carter received his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama in the field of Educational Psychology and his M.S. in Personnel Administration from Alabama A&M University. He received his B.A. in Sociology from Oakwood College.

Carla Swinney
|
Ms. Carla Swinney is the Administrative Assistant to the Dean for Student Affairs and her office is located in room 205 of the Chasteen Student Center. She is from Decatur, Alabama and received her B.S. in Marketing from the University of Alabama. Carla is responsible for coordinating the annual Honors' Day and Graduation ceremonies, represents Calhoun as a recruiter, co-sponsors the Warhawks (official ambassadors for the college), receives and addresses daily inquiries on the Calhoun Ombudsman Center, coordinates campus tours, assists students with Service Learning inquiries, and assists Dr. Carter with daily correspondence within the Student Affairs Office.

Mattie Burks
|
Mrs. Mattie Burks is the Executive Secretary to the Dean for Student Affairs and her office is located in room 205 of the Chasteen Student Center. She received her A.S. in Business from Calhoun Community College and her B.S. in Business from Athens State University, with additional graduate credits from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Mattie is responsible for daily absence approvals within the division, maintains an office calendar for Dr. Carter, compiles the Who's Who Among American College Students lists, maintains office files and assists with budgets, Service Learning inquiries, and Honors' Day and Graduation ceremonies. She also co-sponsors the Calhoun Warhawks (official ambassadors for the college), greets and advises students and assists Dr. Carter with daily correspondence within the Student Affairs Office.
