ORIENTATION
Each fall semester, the Division of Student Affairs sponsors a New Student/Freshman Orientation program entitled “Making College Count”. This is a program that is presented nationally by the Making College Count Corporation. The program is coordinated by the Coordinator of Enrollment Management and the Calhoun Registrar.
The Admissions Office mails post cards during the months of July and August to all first year/transfer students inviting them to attend the orientation program along with their parents. This orientation program is not required, but students are strongly encouraged to attend. The program includes opportunities for students to meet with faculty members from several academic departments who are set up to distribute information about their programs. Next, a representative from the Making College Count Corporation will have an hour presentation on helpful ways to be successful in college. The program concludes with an evaluation component. Students attending have the opportunity to take their student ID pictures, and to register their vehicles for a parking placard. In addition to academic departments, vendors from several banks and financial aid agencies are also present to provide information to the students and their parents. Contact the Advising Center at (256) 260-2441 or 306-2631 for further details.
