SECTION 1:  INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

The Disability Services staff welcomes you to Calhoun Community College.  The purpose of DS is to facilitate reasonable and appropriate academic accommodations to college students with disabilities.  The information in Section One is designed to help you get started with DS should you wish to request academic accommodations as an undergraduate student at CALHOUN COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

Registration with DS

Registration with Disability Services is a separate process from applying for admission to CALHOUN COMMUNITY COLLEGE.  Interested students should contact DS at (256) 306-2630, 306-2635 or by mail at Calhoun Community College, P.O. Box 2216 Decatur, Alabama 35609-2216.

Admissions

The Admissions Office handles all applications for admission to CALHOUN COMMUNITY COLLEGE.  Admission standards are described in the College Catalog/Student Handbook and must be met by all students, regardless of disability.  Applications for admission are available from the Admissions Office at any college location.

Orientation

New student orientation is conducted by the Student Affairs Division, 256-306-2613.  Students who anticipate a need for accommodations during the orientation process should contact Disability Services at 256-306-2630.   Students with disabilities are encouraged to visit the Office of Services for Special Student Populations during orientation. 

Financial Aid

CALHOUN COMMUNITY COLLEGE'S financial aid packages (federal aid, work study, grants, and scholarships) enable students from all economic backgrounds to attend CALHOUN COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

Financial aid is awarded annually, based on need and merit, and students who wish to receive aid must reapply each year.

You may be eligible for multiple federal programs and scholarships. For applications and complete details on eligibility requirements, award amounts, terms, and deadline dates, contact the Student Financial Aid Office (visit the Financial Services website). Financial aid applications are available in early January for the following academic year with a priority deadline of April 1.
