Calhoun Community College Announces
Record Fall Semester Enrollment

Dr. Marilyn C. Beck, president of Calhoun Community College, announced today that the college’s 2008 fall semester enrollment has reached a new record for the school, with a total of 9516 students enrolled to date, an increase of just over 4% compared to  last fall’s numbers.

Of the students taking classes at Calhoun this fall, 4261 are enrolled in day and evening classes at the Decatur campus; 3886 are taking day, evening and weekend classes at the college's Huntsville/Cummings Research Park site.  Distance Education enrollment has increased 13 ½% over Fall 2007 with 839 students taking classes on-line.  Enrollment numbers for the college’s  Dual Enrollment students currently stand at 343, however the College’s Admissions office is not yet finished processing enrollment applications.  The Limestone Correctional Facility’s enrollment of 187 students is also up from 2007 numbers.

Commenting on the increase,  Beck, said, “We are extremely excited about reaching a new enrollment record.  As the largest of Alabama’s two-year colleges, Calhoun continues to offer quality instruction and training opportunities at an affordable cost and in various schedules and formats, which is indicated through our continued enrollment increases," added Dr. Beck.
