2007 Workforce Expo at Calhoun Community College
This year's WORKFORCE EXPO is scheduled for Wednesday , February 7, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Kelley Gymnasium on the Calhoun Community College’s Decatur campus. Last year, more than 1000 students, parents and educators from seven area school systems attended. The event brings together local businesses, industries and employers who provide the jobs in our area and the young people who will soon fill those jobs. Teachers, counselors and parents are also invited to attend.
Hundreds of students from across the four county area of Morgan, Limestone, Lawrence and Madison counties are expected to attend this year’s Expo. Expo displays will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007.
Industries participating in this year’s Expo include: 3M, 88.1 WAY-FM, American Cancer Society, The Art Institutes, Athens State University-College of Business, Automatic Screw Machine Products Company, BE & K Construction Company, Compass Bank, Decatur Career Center, Decatur EMS, Decatur General Hospital, Eaton Hydraulics, Electricfil Corporation, Federal Mogul Sealing Systems, Fowler Auction and Real Estate Service, Inc., Friends of Regional Hospital, Hartselle Police Dept., I.T. Consultants Inc., International Paper, Joe Wheeler EMC, KEY Engineering, Inc., M & D Mechanical Contractors, Inc., Manpower, Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa, North Alabama Center for Education Excellence, NOVA Chemicals, Nucor Steel Decatur, Pilgrim’s Pride, Corp, Pro-Air Services, Inc., Railroad Bazaar/In 2 Wireless/Athens Sign Company, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Solutia, Inc., SportsMED, Tennessee Valley Rehabilitation Center, The Terrace at Priceville, U.S. Airforce, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, WACHOVIA, West Corporation, WHNT Television and Wyndham Hospitality, Inc. (Guthrie’s Golden Fried Chicken Fingers).
Lunch will be provided for exhibitors and will be prepared and served by Limestone County Career Technical Culinary Arts students. Brewer High School Foods and Culinary Arts students will prepare snacks for the exhibitor break room. The Workforce Expo Committee is working with high schools throughout the Calhoun Tech Prep Consortium to arrange student tours and to encourage students and their parents to attend.
The CAREER AND WORKFORCE EXPO 2007 is presented by the Calhoun Community College Tech Prep Consortium which includes Calhoun Community College, Athens City Schools, Decatur City Schools, Hartselle City Schools, Limestone County Schools, Madison City Schools, and Morgan County Schools. The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Silver Sponsors Eaton Hydraulics, Joe Wheeler EMC, Redstone Federal Credit Union and Solutia, Inc. are co-sponsors for this year’s event. The Expo is presented annually in conjunction with Morgan County Economic Development Association, Lawrence County Industrial Development Board, and Limestone County Economic Development Association with special support provided by Pepsi Cola Bottling Company.
