Calhoun's Lady Warhawks Close Out Season
in New Softball Stadium
The Lady Warhawks will close out their 2007 season in their new on-campus softball stadium Thursday, April 26, 2007, at 2:00 p.m, when they host Southern Union. This will mark the first time Calhoun Community College has hosted a fastpitch softball game on campus since the early 1970's, when the ladies participated in non-scholarship sports. The new softball grandstands will seat 250 persons. The fans will be treated to free admission, free hot dogs and drinks, and spirit shakers.
Former Coach Myra King will throw out the first pitch. Coach King retired from Calhoun Community College in 2001 after a 25 year tenure. She established the ultra successful slowpitch softball program by winning seven consecutive state softball championships and three women's basketball state championships.
Calhoun will play Bevill State-Sumiton on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Sophomores from last year's team have been invited to throw out the first pitch. The final home game of the season will against Northwest-Shoals Community College is set for Tuesday, May 1, 2007.
