Calhoun Community College Announces 2007 Fall Semester Enrollment
Dr. Marilyn C. Beck, president of Calhoun Community College, announced today that the college’s 2007 fall semester enrollment has surpassed the 9000 mark, with a total of 9051 students enrolled to date, an increase of almost 6% over last fall’s numbers.
Of the students taking classes at Calhoun this fall, 5660 are enrolled at the Decatur campus; 3246 are taking day, evening and weekend classes at the college's Huntsville/Cummings Research Park site; and 145 are in classes taught at the Redstone Arsenal extension. Enrollment numbers for the college’s certificate/vocational programs at Limestone Correctional Facility were not available today.
Commenting on the increase, Beck, said, “We are extremely excited about our continuing enrollment increases, which we attribute in part to the availability of day classes now at our Huntsville campus. Over 900 students are enrolled in day classes alone in Huntsville, which demonstrates Calhoun’s ability to fill an unmet need and to provide yet another scheduling option for our students,” Beck added
“As the largest of Alabama’s two-year colleges, Calhoun continues to offer quality instruction and training opportunities at an affordable cost and in various schedules and formats, which is indicated through our continued enrollment increases," added Dr. Beck.
