Black History Month Activities

African American Film Festival
Thursday, February 1, 2007

The Black Students’ Alliance (BSA) of Calhoun Community College  kicks off a month-long celebration with a film festival showing “The Rosa Parks Story.”  Following later in the month, the acclaimed film “Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored” will be shown.

The Black History celebration continues with “African American Music through the Years,”  a musical event highlighting the growth and influences of African American music from the 1960’s through present day.

BSA  hosts an “Open Mic” program that invites campus and community members to share in the creative arts of African Americans.

17th Annual Gospel Fest
Friday, February 23, 2007
Aerospace Training Center
7:00 p.m.

Finally, the 17th Annual Gospel Fest will conclude the college’s Black History Month events.  The Gospel Fests showcases a variety of talent from local communities including singing, liturgical dance, and step groups.
