Calhoun Community College
Hosts Guitar Duo
Calhoun Community College will host a special performance by the prize-winning guitar duo, Klasinc & Loncar on Friday, February 17, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Building on the Decatur campus. The performance is open to the public and is free of charge.
Klasinc & Loncar's recordings include Images (for two guitars), Con Spirito (featuring Loncar's transcriptions for two guitars and cello), and their newest recording of Danzas of Puerto Rico . Both musicians received their Bachelors and Master degrees from the University of Graz, Austria, where they studied the classic guitar with Marga Bauml and Martin Myslivecek. They received their Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi . They are the founders and artistic directors of the International Summer Guitar Festival in Karlovac , Croatia . Currently, Dr. Loncar directs the guitar program at William Carey College , and Dr. Klasinc teaches at Copiah-Lincoln , Mississippi Gulf Coast, and Pearl River Community Colleges .
