Calhoun Fall Baseball League Announced

Calhoun Community College baseball coach Jim Morrill has announced the college’s fall baseball league for high school students in grades 10-12.  Cost to participate in the league is $175 per player.

Games will begin Tuesday, September 5 and end Saturday, October 14.  Game days and locations are as follows: 

Tuesdays -- 6:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., Decatur High School
Thursdays -- 6:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., Decatur High School
Saturdays -- 10:00 a.m. & Noon, Calhoun Community College
Mondays (as needed ) -- 6:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m.,Decatur High School

Players should provide baseball pants, cleats, and glove; catchers should also bring their own equipment.  Players should report 30 minutes before each game.

Workout dates will be held Saturday August 19th at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday August 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Calhoun’s baseball field.  Players are required to attend one workout if possible to be assigned a team.  This is not a tryout, but an assessment workout to aide in setting up team rosters equally based on skill level.  Teams will play two games per week on alternating days, totaling 12 games.

Each player will receive TWO Calhoun baseball t-shirt jerseys and ONE baseball cap to be worn during games and are theirs to keep.  Umpires and baseballs will be provided.  Teams will be coached by college coaches and will receive instruction from coaches and current college players.  An ALL-STAR team will be selected at the end of the league and will play a Championship Series against the Northwest Shoals Community College Fall All-Star team.
