Calhoun Community College To Host
"Financial Aid Day"

In recognition of the month of February as "National Financial Aid Awareness Month" Calhoun Community College 's Office of Student Financial Services will host Financial Aid Day Saturday, February 4, 2006 , from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm .

Staff from Calhoun's financial aid office will be on hand at both the Decatur campus ( Noble Russell Building , Room 206) and Huntsville/Cummings Research Park campus (Rooms 154 and 166) to answer questions and to help students and parents identify financial aid opportunities. Individual assistance in completing the financial aid application process will also be available. Students and parents planning to attend the event should bring their 2005 income tax information (IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, W02s and/or untaxed income statements), which will be needed to complete the application process.

Information on scholarships, grants, and low interest loans will be provided. The event is free and open to anyone needing money for college. Lunch will be served. For more information, call 256/306-2624.

The Student Financial Services office has also announced application deadline dates for scholarships to be awarded by the college for the 2006-2007 academic year. According to Deborah Byrd, Financial Aid director, the deadline to apply for any Calhoun Scholarship is March 1. As part of the application process, applicants for any scholarship at the college are REQUIRED to complete and submit a processed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ) form in order to qualify for a scholarship. The form may be completed and submitted online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or may be completed during the Financial Aid Day activities.

Current and potential students desiring to complete the online FAFSA process should do so no later than February 24, 2006 . Those students who choose to submit a paper FAFSA form by mail should submit the form to the Calhoun Financial Aid Office no later than February 15 .

Students interested in applying for any Calhoun scholarship (academic, Foundation, music, athletic, nursing, etc.) may now do so by completing one scholarship form . The form may be found on the college's website at www.calhoun.edu or a copy may be obtained at any of the college's campus locations.
