Janet Kincherlow-Martin of Decatur, AL has successfully completed the requirements for graduation from the Alabama Community College Leadership Academy. The Commencement luncheon and ceremonies were held at The University of Alabama on April 15, 2005 . Established in 2000, and co-sponsored by The University of Alabama's Colleges of Education and Continuing Studies, Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education, the Alabama College System, and the University of Alabama System , the Academy is a one-year program for administrators and faculty members of two-year colleges. This year's graduating class of 26 participants representing 18 institutions is the fifth class to graduate. Alumni of The Academy now number 111.
The Academy is designed to prepare these professionals to take advantage of future senior-level leadership and management opportunities in postsecondary education. The Academy features a core curriculum, nationally renowned guest speakers and other professionals, campus visits, and a Problem-Based Learning activity in which participants work in teams to solve "real-world" problems faced by educational administration practitioners.
