Calhoun Community College to Host
4th Annual Golf Tournament to
Support Student Scholarships
Calhoun Community College will host its 4 th annual fund-raising golf tournament on Monday, September 19, 2005 , beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shot-gun start. The 18 hole, Four-Player Scramble will be held at the Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, AL. Proceeds will benefit Calhoun's Division of Student Affairs, to provide scholarships, services, and educational programs for Calhoun students.
The golf tournament is open to the public, but limited to the first 25 teams. Entry fee is $75.00 for individuals or $300.00 per team, which includes greens fee and ½ cart. Mulligans are $5 each (two per player.) Sponsors for the event are AmSouth Student Lending, EdAmerica, Jimmy Smith Motors, Nelnet, Redstone Federal Credit Union, USA Funds, and Sims-Cross and Associates.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the first and second place teams in the first and second flights. Other prizes include a 2005 Buick sponsored by Jimmy Smith Motors for the Hole-in-One; Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive , and Longest Putt, In addition, a Million Dollar Hole-in-One Shootout, sponsored by Sims-Cross & Associates, will be held. Qualifying for this event will be held September 12-16 at the Madison Golf Center .
This year's event will also include the "Grand Ball Drop" which allows participants to make a $100 or more contribution to Calhoun's scholarship fund. This contribution will provide one of 250 numbered golf balls to be dropped over a designated target area on the practice range. The golf ball landing closest to the selected target area will win the cash grand prize. A maximum of 250 balls will be available.
