Certification Available to Administrative Professionals
The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), the leading association for administrative support staff, has announced their Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) examinations will be offered this year through the ACT Center at Calhoun Community College on the Decatur campus. The deadline to register for the fall testing is August 15, 2005. Interested persons should contact IAAP directly at 816-891-6600 to register. No registration will take place at Calhoun. Certification Application Packets (including regulations, forms, fees, and guidelines for study materials) can be found at [ http://www.iaap-hq.org ]www.iaap-hq.org under “Professional Certification.” Test fees for the exams range from $190 to $315, and IAAP accepts checks, credit card, or bank drafts. The fall exams scheduled for November 4 & 5, 2005. A second round of examinations will be held in May, 2006.
The IAAP’s Institute for Certification administers these top-level professional examinations in approximately 150 examination centers located worldwide the first full weekend (Friday and Saturday) of May and November. The CPS Examination was first administered in 1951, with the CAP examination introduced in May 2001. Benefits of certification include increased knowledge; possible college credit, as recommended by the American Council on Education; increased respect from employers and peers; personal confidence to assume greater responsibilities; and eligibility to attend the annual Certification Seminar that offers professional development to CPS and CAP recipients.
