Calhoun Community College
Receives National Science Foundation Grant
Calhoun Community College recently received an award notification from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for $31,732 to fund their Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Improvement Adaptation and Implementation Planning grant (CCLI.) The grant is designed to improve student outcomes in introductory biology courses.
CCLI will involve synergistic teams of full- and part-time faculty members who will systematically re-examine undergraduate, introductory biology education at the College. The project team will then develop a plan to adapt and implement exemplary models for introductory biology courses to meet the needs of both biology majors and non-majors in the Alabama College System. The project will also involve biology faculty statewide as advisors and reviewers. Project outcomes will be published in a Review of Introductory Biology Instruction Team (RIBIT) Report for dissemination across the state to be used as a model for improving courses while still meeting the Alabama Common Course Directory requirements.
