Calhoun Community College Offering
Free Automated External Defibrillator Training

Calhoun Community College 's Emergency Medical Services department is offering free training classes on the use of Automated External Defibrillators on Friday, April 22, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. until noon, in the Aerospace Training Center lecture hall on the Decatur campus. The CPR/AED class is free and open to the general public on a first-come-first-serve basis. The American Heart Association has donated free t-shirts participants completing the training. To reserve a spot, contact Jeff Mitchell, Calhoun EMS, at 256-306-2791.

The EMS department at Calhoun recently purchased five AEDs from Stop Heart Attack of Birmingham , AL , using a Venture Capital Grant through the college. The new equipment will be located in public areas on the Decatur and Huntsville campuses, and there are plans to purchase additional defribilators in the future.
