Calhoun Community College's Business Division
Awarded Initial Accreditation by
National Accrediting Agency
The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has announced that Calhoun Community College has been awarded initial accreditation of the college’s business school. The announcement was made during the ACBSP’s Annual Conference in Washington, DC and represents the fifteenth annual presentation to institutions being accredited since the founding of ACBSP seventeen years ago.
“We are extremely pleased to receive this accreditation from the ACBSP,” commented Calhoun President Marilyn Beck. “This accreditation of our Business program is important to our students as they continue their education and enter the workforce, and I commend the faculty and staff of this department for this outstanding accomplishment.”
Douglas G. Viehland, executive director of the ACBSP, spoke of the accomplishment of this initial accreditation, "Calhoun Community College has shown its commitment to teaching excellence by participating in the accreditation process, achieving accreditation, and then continuing the process of quality improvement. This initial accreditation is evidence of Calhoun’s commitment to quality business programs."
For institutions that achieve initial accreditation for their business schools and programs, this attainment certifies that the teaching and learning processes within that institution meet the rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP. The ratification of initial accreditation by ACBSP covers a ten-year period during which time Calhoun must continually reaffirm its quality through periodic reports.
ACBSP’s mission is to establish, promote, and recognize educational practices that contribute to the continuous quality improvement of business education programs, teaching of business courses, and student learning outcomes in colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad. ACBSP was established in 1988 and is the only business accrediting organization for both two year and four year institutions. ACBSP has 394 member institutions and is located at 7007 College Blvd, Suite 420, Overland Park, Kansas, 66211. For more information go to www.acbsp.org.
