ATHENS , Ala. - Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Site Vice President Mike Scaggs today presented Calhoun Community College with a contribution of $5,000 to help enhance the technical program at the college.

The college plans to use the contribution to purchase computer software for its machine tool technology program. Graduates in the program are in high demand in North Alabama due to the more than 200 machine shops located in the area.

"We are extremely appreciative of this donation from TVA, which will allow students graduating from the college's Machine Tool Technology program to be more competitive in the job market," said Calhoun President Dr. Marilyn C. Beck.

"TVA has been a long-time supporter and corporate partner to Calhoun, and we thank them for their contributions not just to Calhoun but to the entire community."

"TVA is glad to be able to support the local community and strengthen our partnership with Calhoun College ," said Scaggs.  "We are contributing funds for the purchase of software that will enable students to adequately prepare for future career opportunities."
