Calhoun to Hold Technology Open House
Calhoun Community College will host a TECHNOLOGY OPEN HOUSE at its Decatur campus Tuesday, July 20, 2004 , 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. , in the Aerospace Training Center. During the Open House, attendees will be able to discuss course offerings and careers in the high tech area with Calhoun faculty and currently enrolled students.
Tours of campus facilities will be conducted, and representatives from area employers will be on-hand to discuss employment options. Calhoun admissions and financial aid representatives will be available for those students interested in registering for 2004 fall semester classes, which begin August 23. Programs featured during the TECHNOLOGY OPEN HOUSE include Advanced Electronics Manufacturing, Aerospace Technology, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Design Drafting Technology, Electrical Technology, Machine Tool Technology, and Process Technology.
“This Open House is geared toward recent high school graduates and their parents, as well as persons considering returning to school, changing careers or wishing to upgrade their skills,” said Jim Swindell, assistant dean of Technology Education at Calhoun. “Students should also be aware that starting salaries in these high tech areas can range from $25,000 - $35,000,” Swindell added. In addition, limited scholarships are available for qualified students interested in enrolling in the Advanced Electronics Manufacturing program.
Huntsville area residents will be able to obtain technology course information during fall semester registration Thursday, July 22, 2004 , 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. , from the Technology Information Booth located in the lobby of the Huntsville campus.
