Calhoun Community College Announces
Record Enrollment for 2004 Spring Semester
Dr. Marilyn C.
Beck, president of
Calhoun
Community College,
announced today that with a total of 8666 students enrolled for
the college's 2004 spring semester, Calhoun has the largest spring
semester enrollment in the school's history.
Of the students taking
classes at Calhoun this spring, 5369 are enrolled at the Decatur campus; 2576
are taking evening and weekend classes at the college's Huntsville/Cummings
Research Park site; 453 are in classes taught at the Redstone Arsenal extension;
and 268 inmates are enrolled in certificate/vocational courses provided through
the college's program at Limestone Correctional Facility.
Commenting on the increase,
Calhoun President Marilyn Beck, said, “We are extremely excited about our
continuing enrollment increases, which we attribute in part to our expanding
schedule of early afternoon class offerings at the Decatur campus, the
increasing number of Distance Education courses, and the growing enrollment in
our Dual Enrollment Program for area high school students.”
“As the largest of Alabama’s
27 two-year colleges, Calhoun continues to offer quality instruction and
training opportunities at an affordable cost and in various schedules and
formats, which is indicated through our continued enrollment increases," added
Dr. Beck.
