Calhoun Community College Presents
The People Speak:
Discuss America's Role in the World

On Monday, October 18, 2004, the Calhoun Community College Division of Student Affairs is presenting, as part of The People Speak: Discuss America’s Role in the World, a panel discussion exploring the topic “Energy Choices and Environmental Challenges.” The program will be held at 1:30 p.m., in the Aerospace Training Center on the College’s Decatur campus, and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served prior to the event.

Panelists include Ms. Jan Berry, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (representing the U.S. Department of Energy), Mr. Jack Brellenthin, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and Mr. Ron Welch, Atmospheric Science Division, University of Alabama – Huntsville. Audience participation is encouraged during the question-and-answer period following the formal debate, giving the public an opportunity to ask questions and to voice concerns about the energy crisis, and governmental energy policies and processes.

The People Speak: America’s Role in the World is a nationwide discussion series taking place in hundreds of locations around the country throughout the 2004 election year. The series is backed by a nonpartisan coalition of national sponsors including the United Nations Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute, and the Brookings Institution.
