The Barbering and Cosmetology Programs at Calhoun Community College will co-host a Ribbon Cutting/Open House ceremony on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at 10:30 am to mark the grand opening of their new location.  The new Barbering and Cosmetology Center is located in the left wing of Calhoun’s Advanced Manufacturing Center on the Decatur campus.

The programs re-located this summer from their previous home in the Noble Russell building to allow for preparation of the renovation/construction project for Phase III of Tech Park, which is scheduled to begin early next year.  According to college records, Barbering and Cosmetology courses have been offered at Calhoun since the mid 1960’s, making them among the college’s oldest programs.

Events planned for the Grand Opening include the 10:30 ribbon cutting, a 5:30 pm opening ceremony for the evening program and tours of the new Center and refreshments from 10:00 am – 12 noon and again from 5:00-7:00 pm.  This semester, close to 100 students is enrolled in the programs’ day and evening classes.

All Grand Opening events are open to the public.  Former students and faculty members of the programs are encouraged to attend.
