Calhoun Community College to Observe MLK Day with Special Program

Martin Luther King, Jr.Calhoun Community College will pay tribute to slain civil rights legend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a special celebration luncheon centered around the theme "40 Years Later, What Have You Done with the Dream?" on Tuesday, January 15, 2008. The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. on the college's Decatur campus in the Aerospace Training Center (ATC).

 Featured speaker for this year’s program is Tim Allston, owner of Allston Communications and a nationally-recognized author and orator.  An update on the national memorial being erected in Washington, D.C. in Dr. King’s honor will be provided by Michael Armour, President, Rho Eta Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  The program will also include selections by the Calhoun Chorale.  Immediately following the program, members of the college’s Black Student Alliance will conduct a voter registration drive, which will continue through Wednesday, January 16.
