Calhoun Community College to Offer
75 Full-Tuition Scholarships Through Waiver Grants

Calhoun Community College announced today that it will offer 75 full-tuition scholarships through its 2008–2009 Tuition and Fee Waiver Grant Program.  The grant is a state-funded program for economically disadvantaged students that pays for tuition and fees related to attending Calhoun Community College during the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters.

For the purpose of this program, an economically disadvantaged student is defined as a student who is an Alabama resident qualifying for a Federal Pell Grant and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG).  The grant provides a waiver for tuition and fee charges for up to 60 total hours of classes taken over no more than two academic years. 

To be eligible, applicants

  • Must be a new student.
  • Must be admitted as a regular, degree seeking student.
  • Must enroll in a minimum 10 semester hours per term (must complete 30 semester hours during the 08-09 academic year).
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Form may be found online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/:
  • Must complete the Tuition and Fee Waiver Application
  • Must be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant and SEOG.
  • Must be eligible for instate tuition rates.
  • Meet and maintain Calhoun's Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
  • Must maintain enrollment in all courses paid for with the Tuition & Fee Waiver. 

Other Terms of Tuition & Fee Waiver Grant

  • Grant will waive instate tuition and fee charges for up to 60 hours.
  • Grant will pay for no more than two academic years.

Awards will be made to applicants who meet all qualifications on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Application Deadline:  June 15, 2008 (for Fall 2008 semester); October 15, 2008 (for Spring 2009 semester.)  2008-2009 Tuition and Fee Waiver Grant Application forms are available at www.calhoun.edu/financialaid/tuitionwaiver0809.pdf.
