Calhoun Students Big Winners in Alabama SkillsUSA Competition
Several students from Calhoun Community College recently attended the Alabama SkillsUSA Leadership conference in Birmingham. The students participated in several competitions and won gold and silver medals in Internetworking, Technical Computer Applications, and Related Technical math. The winners for Calhoun Community College were:
Internetworking:
Shane Plott - Gold
Ryan Hathway - Silver
Technical Computer Applications
Ziza McCrary - Gold
Related Technical Math
Marcia Clodfelter – Silver
All gold medal winners go on to compete at the National Leadership and Skills Conference to be held from June 23-June 28 in Kansas City, MO.
SkillsUSA, formerly known as VICA, is a national non-profit organization, is devoted to preparing students for careers in technical, skilled, and service occupations. It serves more than 260,000 high school, college, and professional members. Alabama currently has close to 9,000 members.
