Calhoun Community College Recognizes
National Community College Month
Calhoun Community College joins hundreds of two-year colleges from around the state and nation in recognition of the month of April as national Community College Month.
On March 27, 2008, the Alabama State Board of Education approved a resolution honoring the month. According to the Alabama Community College System, Governor Bob Riley will sign an official proclamation during a special ceremony on April 17 in Montgomery recognizing the month throughout the state of Alabama.
This year, Calhoun celebrates its 60th anniversary with a black-tie Gala planned for Saturday, April 19, 2008, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the college’s Decatur campus. The event will honor long-time Calhoun and community supporter Dr. George Hansberry. During the Gala, the college will also officially dedicate its new Math/Science/Administration building. Alabama Community College System Chancellor Bradley Byrne is expected to attend the event.
Other events planned by the college in April are its annual Springfest activities, which will take place on April 22 at the Huntsville campus and April 24 at the Decatur campus.
