Measures of Student Success Planning Cycle
The Measures of Student Success form should be used to identify measurable objectives that contribute to the effectiveness of each unit of the College. These measures should be related to the overall Elements of Students Success generated from the Planning Council. These elements can be found in the Plan for Student Success booklet.
Each academic year, the following activities should occur:
In June of each year, each unit of the College should submit to the appropriate Planning Council member the following three documents:
-
A Measures of Student Success plan indicating the objectives the unit plans to achieve the next academic year. Every employee of the College should be involved in determining the objectives for their unit. These objectives must be measurable and should be linked to an overall Element of Student Success determined by the Planning Council. The first seven columns of the Measures of Student Success form should be used to submit these objectives. The unit's Planning Council representative should approve the objectives and forward the document to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
-
Resource Request Forms (if necessary) requesting resources to accomplish the objectives identified on the Measures of Student Success plan should be submitted along with the Measures of Student Success plan to the appropriate Planning Council Representative. The Planning Council Representative will indicate approval of those resources and return it to the unit requesting the funds and provide a copy to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.

In September, the unit should submit results of data gathered at the conclusion of the summer semester related to the objectives. These results should be submitted on the Measures of Student Success form by completing the "Actual Results Obtained OR Status of Results" column. This form should then be submitted to the appropriate Planning Council Member for review. The Planning Council representative should forward the document to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
In January, each unit should submit data gathered at the conclusion of the fall semester in the same manner discussed above.
In June, each unit should submit data gathered at the conclusion of the spring semester by using the "Actual Results Obtained OR Status of Results" column on the Measures of Student Success Form. In addition, the unit should provide information in the last column entitled "Use of Results for Improvement" to indicate actions taken as a result of the data gathered throughout the academic year.
