Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of an Associate's degree with a certificate in EMT at the Paramedic level from an accredited institution is required.
- A minimum of three (3) years pre-hospital care experience as a paramedic is required .
- Certification as a Paramedic licensed in the State of Alabama or subject to a reciprocity agreement with the State of Alabama is required .
- Current certification as an Instructor in ACLS, BCLS, ITLS, and PALS is required .
- Successful completion of an approved DOT EMS Instructor course or NAEMSE Instructor course is required .
- Documented experience in teaching the EMS National DOT curriculum is required .
- Competency in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom and willingness to develop and teach web-based courses are required .
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the College's EMS Continuing Education program.
- Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise for both credit and non-credit courses.
- Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.
- Assist in the collection of placement and retention of program completer data.
- Collect, maintain, and submit accurate class records including grades, attendance rosters, absences, withdrawal, and/or class drop information to appropriate offices.
- Teach at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand; day or evening, in Decatur, Huntsville, or at other sites in the traditional classroom, telecourse, or web format.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of materials used in academic administration when requested, including course syllabi, program outlines, course scheduling, and catalog material.
- Ensure that practical skills training equipment is maintained in a safe and acceptable operating condition.
- Participate in scheduled in-service activities, Honor's Day, and Graduation ceremonies.
- 10. Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
- Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work. Maintain assigned office hours.
- Continue as competent instructor in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and updating professional competencies.
- Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies.
- Provide advice to the administration on matters pertaining to the instructional program.
- Serve on institutional, local, and/or statewide committees engaged in furthering the work of the institution or program when appointed or when elected.
- Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog , Personnel Handbook , and State Board Policy Manual ; and follow such policies and procedures.

Salary: Appropriate placement on State Salary Schedule D, $34,414 – $74,454 (9 months); An additional summer assignment may be available: $10,626 – $23,026 (3 months)
