Calhoun Foundation Scholarships pay toward tuition, books, and fees only.
Apply Online Now for a Calhoun Scholarship. Qualifying students will have filed a FAFSA by February 24 and will have submitted a scholarship application by March 1 .
Unless otherwise noted, all scholarships require a 3.0 GPA. The following endowed scholarships are awarded yearly:
AmSouth Bank Decatur - Established in 1991.
Applied Research, Inc . - Established in 1989 by Mr. Harold Jeffreys, company owner and a former member of the Foundation Board of Directors.
Automatic Screw Machine Products Co. - Established in 1990, this scholarship is awarded to an employee or family member of an employee of the company. Recent graduates receive first priority.
Raymon J. Baker Family Scholarship - Established in 2005 and awarded to a student pursuing a Technology degree.
Clay Blizzard Memorial - Established in 1989.
Hilda and J.C. Brown - Established by Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Brown, former owners of Brown's Fabric Center of Decatur. Mrs. Brown served on the Foundation Board of Directors from 1978-1992. Requires a 2.5 GPA.
Florence Nicolette (Nicky) Byrd Scholarship - Established in 1997 by Dr. and Mrs. Taylor Byrd, Jr., friends, and family, this scholarship is awarded to a minority student with a learning disability. Requires a 2.0 GPA.
Elliott Henry Caddell Memorial - Established in 1993 by Mr. John Caddell in memory of his grandson (May 30, 1979 - January 28, 1989).
D. Ray Campbell - Established in 1991 by Mr. Ray Campbell, a former Calhoun Mathematics instructor.
Betsy J. Cantrell Memorial - Established in 1987 by family and friends of former Calhoun Director of Student Activities, Dr. Betsy Cantrell. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership, service, and been actively involved in extracurricular activities. Requires letter of recommendation from school official. Awarded at Honors' Day. Requires 2.75 GPA.
Cargill Inc. Fund - Established in 1989, priority is given to an employee or a dependent child of an employee.
Lucy B. Cauthen Memorial - Established in 1991 by Mr. and Mrs. David B. Cauthen in memory of his mother, a former English teacher. Mr. Cauthen is a former Foundation Board member. Priority is given to English majors.
Nina Hodges Cline Memorial - Established in 1985 by Mrs. Cline, a long-time supporter of the college.
Mavis and William Cofield Memorial - Established in 1983 by Dr. and Mrs. Harold Steele in honor of Mrs. Steele's parents. Dr. Steele was a member of the college faculty. Awarded to a second year Nursing student.
Compass Bank - Established in 1993.
Mr. and Mrs. Ward Harold Cook Memorial - Established in 2005 by the estate of Katherine Trousdale Cook. Recipient must be a resident of Madison County, Alabama, and must be pursuing studies in a vocational or technical field.
Cook's Pest Control - Established in 1987, priority is given to employees or dependent children of employees of Cook's Pest Control. Mr. John Cook is a former member of the Foundation Board of Directors.
The Decatur Daily - Established in 1993 by The Decatur Daily owner and Foundation Board of Directors member Mr. Barrett G. Shelton, Jr.
Decatur Kiwanis Club Fund - The Decatur Kiwanis Club established scholarships for deserving students. Preference is given to students of Morgan County, Alabama.
Decatur New Car Dealers - Established in 1989 Decatur car dealerships. Priority is given to employees of family members of employees.
Denbo Iron and Metal Company - Established in 1992 by Morley and Ann Denbo and Joel and Sarah Denbo.
Lloyd and Betty Dinsmore Honorary - After establishing their first endowment in 1989, Lloyd and Betty Dinsmore endowed two more, one in 2001 and one in 2004.
Disabled American Veterans - Established in 1990 and in 1991. Preference is given to disabled American veterans and their dependents. Requires a 2.5 GPA.
David & Karen Duke - Established in 1989. Preference is given to a Boys' Ranch or Girls' Ranch student.
Engelhard - Established in 1990. Preference is given to employees' family members.
Mr. and William B. Eyster - Established in 1985. Mr. Eyster was a past president of the Calhoun Foundation.
First American Bank - Established in 1990, priority for this scholarship is given to employees or employees' family members.
Foundation Tribute/Memorial Scholarship - Established anonymously in 1992.
Charles Gober Honorary - Established in 1989 by an anonymous donor, this scholarship is a tribute given upon Mr. Gober's retirement from the Calhoun Business Division. It is awarded to a student pursuing a Business degree.
William G. and Wilma P. Hall Memorial - Established in 1998 for a Technology major. Mr. Hall, former Calhoun Student Services Director, received a scholarship to complete his college degree at Auburn , and he and Mrs. Hall wanted to help others by providing a scholarship opportunity. Requires a 2.5 GPA.
Kathleen Haney-Security Mutual Memorial - Established in 1986 as a tribute to Mrs. Haney, a loyal employee of Security Mutual for many years.
Dr. Cathy Hansberry Honorary - Established in 1999 by Lloyd and Betty Dinsmore as a retirement tribute to Dr. Hansberry, Executive Director of the Calhoun Foundation.
Drs. George and Cathy Hansberry Tribute I - Established in 1999 by the Board and employees at Compass Bank/Compass Bancshares in honor of Drs. George and Cathy Hansberry. Preference is given to applicants majoring in technology programs and/or employees of Compass Bank.
Drs. George and Cathy Hansberry Tribute II - Established in 1999 by the Board and employees at Compass Bank/Compass Bancshares in honor of Drs. George and Cathy Hansberry. Preference is given to applicants majoring in technology programs and/or employees of Compass Bank.
George and Ida Hansberry Memorial - Established in 1990 by Drs. George and Cathy Hansberry in memory of his parents.
Dr. and Mrs. Frank Haws - Established in 1990. Mrs. Patsy Haws is a former member of the Foundation Board of Directors.
Dr. Virginia S. Hill Nursing Memorial - This scholarship was established by Mrs. Virginia Shelton in memory of her mother. Candidates must have been admitted to the Nursing Program.
Elton and Marguerite Hinnant Memorial/Alabama Rehabilitation Association - In cooperation with the Alabama Rehabilitation Association,The Hinnant Memorial has been provided by Betty Hinnant in memory of her parents, Elton and Marguerite Hinnant. Awarded to a student with a disability.
Willie Esma Hodges Memorial - Established in 1986, this scholarship was given by Mrs. Nina Hodges Cline in memory of her sister.
Jean and Billy Hunter - Established in 1985. Mr. Hunter was a former vice president of the Calhoun Foundation and a strong advocate for the scholarship program.
Katie and Robert Hutson Memorial - Established in 1989.
Suzanne B. Joiner - Established in 2003 by Calhoun math professor Suzanne B. Joiner.
William Lee Jones Phi Theta Kappa Memorial - Established in 1994 by Mrs. Rebecca Jones in memory of her husband, a former Calhoun faculty member. Awarded to a Liberal Arts major or Fine Arts major who is a Phi Theta Kappa member. Awarded at Honor's Day.
Dr. Carlton Kelley Nursing Memorial - Established in 1995 by Dr. Kelley's wife, Mrs. Lou Ella Kelley, and the Decatur General Hospital Nurses Association/Zenda Wesnor. Dr. Kelley was the first president of Calhoun Community College , serving from 1947-1976. Kelley scholars must have been admitted to the Nursing program.
Hafford Leeman Memorial - Established in 1986 by Mrs. Wilma Leeman, Mr. and Mrs. John Knight and other friends and relatives. Mr. Hafford Leeman was an Alabama educator for 40 years, serving as superintendent of both Morgan County School and Decatur City Schools .
Les Jeunes Meres Club - Established in 1989.
Donna Wilburn McDonald Nursing Memorial - Established in 1996 by the estate of Michael J. Wilburn in memory of his sister, a graduate of Calhoun's A.D.N. program. McDonald scholars must have been admitted to the Nursing program.
Management Advisory Group Fund - Established in 1987 by company owner and former Calhoun Foundation Board member Raymon Baker.
Elizabeth Smith Maund - Established in 1988 by Mr. Doug Maund of Athens Pharmacy in honor of his wife, a nurse. The Maund scholarship is awarded to a student who has been admitted to the Nursing program, and preference is given to residents of Limestone County .
Robin Horton Milam Memorial - Established in 2000 by Mr. Hunter Horton, family, and friends, in memory of his daughter. Qualified candidates will have been admitted to the Nursing program.
James T. Morgan Memorials - Established in 2004 by the estate of Mr. James T. Morgan for students pursuing two-year certifications or degrees.
Morgan/Lawrence County Medical Alliance - Established in 1989. Qualified applicants will have been admitted to the Nursing program.
Dr. Frances P. Moss Tribute - Established in 1994 by internationally known composer, author, conductor, vocalist, clinician, and music director Dr. Jack Platt, in tribute to Calhoun Music instructor Dr. Frances Moss. This tribute was presented at the In-Service Vocal Workshop for choral directors during the Alabama Honor Choir Festival. Moss scholars are Music majors.
Office Supply Company, Inc. (OSCO) - Established in 1986 by Mr. Charles Allen, former vice president of the Calhoun Foundation. Preference is given to students with financial need.
Jean Osborne Memorial - Established in 1995 by Mr. H. Clay Blizzard in memory of his sister.
PAR Enterprises, Inc. - Established in 1989 and 1995 by Mr. and Mrs. Don Pettus. Preference is given to PAR employees and residents of Morgan County . Mr. Pettus served on the Foundation Board of Directors.
PH&J Architect's Scholarship - Established in 1991. Mr. Renis Jones, PH&J President, has been instrumental in the design of Calhoun's buildings.
Bill and Inez Prince - Established in 1987. Mr. Prince is a former member of the Foundation Board of Directors.
Professional Secretaries International - Established in 1990 by The Redstone Chapter of PSI. Candidates must be majoring in a Business related field.
Luke Pryor Honorary - Established in 1987 by Mr. Pryor, long-time friend of Calhoun.
Regions Bank - Established in 1992. Preference is given to bank employees or family members of employees.
Smith Family Scholarship Honoring Hollis and Sue Smith - Established in 1995 by Phillip Smith, a former Chair of the Business and Industry Services Division, in honor of his parents. Recipient must be an Education major. Preference given to Elementary Education majors planning to transfer to Auburn University .
Jimmy Smith Jewelers - Establishd in 1989 and 1990 by Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Smith, longtime Calhoun supporters. Mr. Smith is an alumnus and serves on the Foundation Board of Directors.
Solutia Fund - Established in 1986. Two scholarships are awarded each year to deserving students.
Maureen Stephens Memorial - Established in 1990 by Mr. James Stephens and friends in memory of his wife, a former Calhoun nursing student. Recipient must have been admitted to the Nursing Program.
William H. Stevens, Jr. Memorial - Established in 1994 by Mr. Ben Stevens, owner of Stevens Oil Company, in memory of his father.
Sue-Jac, Inc. - Established in 1990 by Mr. James Hooper, owner.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sundback - Established in 1992 by Doris and Ray Sundback and the 3M Matching Fund.
C. Wilson Taylor Memorial I - Established in 1985 by Caroline Taylor in memory of her husband.
C. Wilson Taylor Memorial II - Established in 1991 by Central Bank (now Compass Bank) in memory of former Board member, Wilson Taylor. Recipient must be a full-time student. (12 hours)
Bobby Terry Memorial - Established in 1991 by Mrs. Eileen Terry Usery in memory of her husband. Priority will be given to employees of M.E.W.S. and the Bobby Terry Company. Recipients are to major in Heating/AC, Electrical or Business.
Bertha Timberlake Memorial/Decatur Women's Chamber of Commerce - Established in 1989 by The Decatur Women's Chamber of Commerce in memory of the founder of the Decatur Women's Chamber.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tucker - Established in 1993 by Jim and Betty K. Tucker .
Jacquelin Woolley Villadsen Memorial - Established in 2000 by Wayne and Alice Villadsen, along with the BellSouth Matching Gift Fund, in honor of Wayne 's mother. Preference is given to a graduating senior from Horizon High School .
Amanda Susan Walker Memorial - Established in 2003 in memory of Amanda Susan Walker, a former Calhoun student. Preference is given to students in a medical or other service related field. Recipient must have a 2.5 GPA.
Robin Frenzel Wallace Nursing Memorial - Established in 2001 by Harold and Nita Wallace in memory of their daughter. Recipient must have been admitted to the Nursing Program.
S.S. Wang - Established in 2001 by Dr. Michael M. J. Wang and Susie Olmstead Wang in honor of Dr. Wang's father.
Steve Waters Memorial - Established in 1991 by Mrs. Carol Waters and friends in memory of her son, a former Calhoun student in photography. Recipient will be a Photography student.
Paul and Susie Dell Wildes Memorial - Established in 1991 by Dr. Alice and Wayne Villadsen and the 3M Matching Gift Program in memory of her parents. Dr. Alice Villadsen is a former Dean of Instruction at Calhoun. Mr. Villadsen worked at BellSouth for many years. Recipient will be a returning adult female.
Wendy Williams Memorial - Established in 1982 by family and friends in memory of a former Calhoun English instructor. The English faculty makes the selection of the recipient.
Willo Products - Established in 1986 by Mr. Lynn Ozier and Mr. Jack Ozier, company owners. Preference is given to employees and their family members.
Dr. Mary M. Yarbrough - Established anonymously in 2001 in honor of Calhoun Administrator Dr. Mary Yarbrough. The scholarship is awarded to a Business Division student.
