Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

UNDERGRADUATE TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Calhoun Student The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program each year awards approximately 30 scholarships to students attending community colleges or two-year institutions in the US and planning to transfer to four-year institutions.

Minimum Eligibility

You must meet the minimum eligibility requirements to be considered for nomination by Calhoun Community College for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program. At a minimum, to be eligible, candidates must

1.

Be enrolled at Calhoun Community College at the time of nomination and have sophomore status by December 31, 2009. Recent alumni must have graduated within the last five years (since spring 2005)

2.

Plan to enroll full-time in a baccalaureate program at an accredited college or university in fall 2010.

3.

Have a cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.50 or better on a scale of 4.0 (or the equivalent).

4.

Be nominated by Calhoun Community College.

5.

Have unmet financial need.

6.

Have not previously been nominated for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

If you meet all of the above criteria, please review the 2010 Nominee Guidelines- Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program for more information, including selection criteria,. If you also meet those criteria, contact Dr. Kermit Carter. Dean for Student Affairs to learn more about the institutional process, including further eligibility requirements. Each institution may nominate up to two students or recent alumni every year for the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

The Award

Each award covers a portion of of educational expenses, including tuition, living expenses, required fees, and books for the final two to three years of the baccalaureate degree. The amount and duration of awards vary by student based on the cost of attendance and the length of the program as well as other scholarships or grants received. The maximum available per student is $30,000 per year. This is the largest scholarship offered in the US to community college transfer students.

Getting Nominated

Students interested in this scholarship must be nominated by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Faculty Representative at their institutions. Students may not apply directly to the Foundation for this program. Calhoun's Faculty Representative is:
