Distance Education

General Information

Distance education provides students with a unique scheduling option.  Courses are taken via the Web and are designed to provide greater flexibility.  For more details, call (256) 306-2846 or contact the designated faculty member.  The following items should be considered before registering for distance education courses:

  • Information necessary for successful course completion is provided at the information session.
  • International students must score not less than 173 computerized or 500 written on the TOEFL
  • Distance education courses typically require between five and ten (5 - 10) visits to Calhoun's Decatur Campus; however, due to the nature of some courses, additional mandatory sessions may be required.  Contact the designated faculty member (s) if you have specific questions regarding the number of required visits and/or dates of those visits.
  • Students enrolled outside of Calhoun's geographical service area must contact the instructor for orientation and/or exam information.
  • Supervised testing for some distance education courses occurs in the Calhoun Testing Center. There are centers in Decatur and in Huntsville. Hours vary by location, but your course syllabus will list the hours
