SpaceTEC Core Certification Readiness Course

Calhoun Community College offers the SpaceTEC Core Certification Readiness Course as a preparation course for the SpaceTEC Aerospace Technician Core Certification Exam.  Upon completing the course, participants should be able to:

  • identify the six major sub-sections of the Aerospace Core Curriculum and familiarize themselves will the subject matter in each section.
  • accurately describe the three steps in the “Core” certification process and identify the minimum requirements of each.
  • interpret and select the appropriate text material in preparation for the written “Core examination”

Specific learning objectives include:

  • Read a micrometer and dial indicator
  • Operate a multimeter without error
  • Correctly read and analyze a wiring schematic
  • Identify aerospace bolts, nuts and other hardware without error
  • Differentiate between destructive and non-destructive testing
  • Evaluate specific unsafe working conditions and identify corrective action
  • Identify hazards in the workplace, corrective action for those hazards, including personal protective equipment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of ohms law and calculate ohms law without error or omission
  • Demonstrate knowledge of composite materials, material compatibility/ incompatibility and the hazards involved
