Calhoun’s Surgical Technology Program to Hold Information Session
Calhoun Community College’s Surgical Technology Program will host a general information session on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 9am for students interested in applying for the 2012-13 academic year. The session will be held on the College’s Decatur campus in the Health Sciences building, Room 203. Priority deadline for Fall 2012-13 admissions is May 14th, and the May 8th program will cover the program application, admissions, and selection process.
Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients under the direct supervision of a surgeon. Surgical Technologists are found in a variety of medical settings including hospitals, free standing surgical centers, and physician medical offices. Calhoun’s Surgical Technology Program consists of three semesters of classroom, lab, and clinical education. A student completing the program receives a certificate and is eligible to sit for the NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist Exam.
