Calhoun’s PR Department Recognized for Outstanding Work


The Public Affairs, Community Relations and Special Events department at Calhoun Community College received eleven awards during the annual conference of the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association (ACCSPRA) held September 3-5, 2013, in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Calhoun's Public Relations department was presented four (4) first place Pyramid Awards, four (4) Awards of Achievement, and three (3) Awards of Merit in the Pyramid Awards competition.

Specifically, Calhoun was presented awards in the following categories: Pyramids in the Catalog category for the 2012 College Catalog; Video Adverting PSA category for the Adult Education video; Postcard category for Upward Bound Pizza Party postcard; and PR Marketing Campaign category for the GED campaign. 

Awards of Achievement were earned in the Newsletter category for the college’s weekly newsletter, The Bulletin; in the News Placement category for news coverage of the ACECET Grand Opening; Student Publications category for The Muse;  and PR Marketing Campaign category for the Weekend College “Time to Make a Change” campaign.

Awards of Merit were presented in the One Page Flyer category; the Postcards category for the Career Coach Drive-in event; and the Poster category for the CSI Scholarships poster.

Calhoun PR director Janet Kincherlow-Martin was elected as an At-Large member of the ACCSPRA Board this year.
