Calhoun’s EMS Program Receives National Approval to Offer CEU Credit
College Becomes the Nation’s First Community College to Receive Approval
Calhoun Community College recently received notification from the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) that they are the first community college in the United States approved to offer Continuing Education credits (CEUs) for EMS healthcare providers. The accreditation allows Calhoun to offer nationally certified license renewal courses to current EMS license-holders, and covers the three year period through May of 2015.
Located in Dallas, TX, CECBEMS is the national clearing house for healthcare CEU courses. They work closely with the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, the National Association of EMS Educators, the National Association of EMS Physicians, the National Association of State EMS Officials, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians to ensure that rigourous course standards and quality content are followed by all institutions and organizations offering EMS training.
