Calhoun Announces Summer and Fall Registration Dates

3/26/2012

Conversion to New Administrative Software Will Provide for More Efficient Registration for Fall Semester

For students who have been awaiting the summer semester schedule for Calhoun Community College, the wait is now over.  The college’s Admissions Office today announced that the schedule is now available on-line.  Click here to see the schedule.  For those students desiring a printed copy, a limited number of schedules will be available on both the Decatur and Huntsville campuses starting March 15, 2012.

Registration for currently enrolled students begins Wednesday, April 4; open registration for all students begins Wednesday, April 11.  Summer semester classes will begin Tuesday, May 29 for the regular session and first short term; second short term classes will begin Tuesday, July 3.

Students viewing the summer schedule will see a change from recent years.  Typically, both the summer and fall schedules are published together.  However, due to the college’s conversion this summer to a new computer administrative software package, the 2012 fall schedule will be published as a stand-alone document and will be available in early June.

Calhoun will join hundreds of higher educational institutions throughout the country when it converts to BANNER this year.  BANNER is a comprehensive computer information system that supports the college’s admissions, instructional and administrative functions.

“While the process to convert to BANNER has been a long and tedious one for the College, we are excited about what it will mean for our students, as all of our processes will become much more efficient and easier,” commented Dr. Dan Opalweski, Calhoun’s associate dean for enrollment management and college registrar.  Other Alabama colleges currently using BANNER include the University of Alabama, the University of Alabama – Huntsville, Alabama A&M University, and Athens State University.

Updated information on the BANNER conversion and fall registration dates will be posted on the Calhoun website at www.calhoun.edu  Current  and potential students are encouraged to check the website regularly for updates.
